Default True Grit: Yes or No?

I just watched the original John Wayne one about a month ago. Before I heard of the remake. The original is kind of cheeseballish in a few spots but was pretty good otherwise.

Trhe trailer looks pretty good, just debating if I want to spend the $ on going out to see it.

I being a fan of the man have seen most of his movies and this wasnt one of his best, but this trailer looks pretty good. I always like a good western. Though my fav John Wayne is Red River. That's a classic. But, yeah I rarely like the remakes they always seem to be missing something. And today they like to digital them up and make them new age, but this one doesnt look too bad. I was thinking of going see it myself.

I went to see it last night and it was pretty damn good. Maybe better than the original just because it was more recent and not cheesy like some of those old dusters can be. They all played their parts to a tee and the story never deviated.

My other half thought it lacked a little action, she was expecting a movie with tons of shoot outs and chases. I explained to her that the original was the same.

The original True Grit has always been one of my favorite movies so I was very skeptical of the remake. In fact, it took me a while to get the DVD as I was quite sure I would be massively disappointed. I expected them to butcher it and put a bunch of touchy-feely introspection in it.

I was surprised. I really liked the remake and can recommend it without hesitation. The actors all did a great job.
