I have been playing around with the idea of adding a tablet or ipad to my gadget library. I want something small that I can take on the road with me when travelling for business or play, something I can take poolside when sitting around the backyard in the summer. You know what I mean. I hate dropping a fortune on new toys especially when newer ones come out a couple of months later. Good news everybody, RIM is releasing a rim play book next week which means the older versions are about to become a whole lot more affordable. Now that is something I can get a hold of. Let them work out the bugs on the new one and I will pick it up in a couple of years.
I was reading yesterday that the biggest maker of computers on the planet is no longer going to be making computers. Why? Apparently there is no money in it. Think about that for a minute. I can't grasp it but then again I can barely keep my checking account on track each month.
The one thing I know is that I am typing on an HP Laptop right now, a laptop with a dead battery that only lasted a month and a bit when I first bought it. Now I am running around the internet looking for a pile of hp batteries before they all get scooped up.
I can't wait until the only thing left on the market are those good quality imports from Asia. I have already been using one at work and it works about as great as I imagine this one does.
I have but two real choices when it comes to shopping for electronics and gadgets. You would think between the two stores I would be able to find what I am looking for but you would be sadly mistaken. All I really wanted today was some stereo speaker mounts, some replacement ear buds for my skull candy headphones and some information on tv's. I came home with nothing.
Lets take the big box store which shall remain named as Future Shop. They had to have 100 employees working and I couldn't find anyone to help me for about 15 minutes or more. I literally had to interrupt a guy watching a movie in their speaker stereo room to get some help. Nice start. I bought a pair of speakers from them recently, Bose. They had no matching speaker mounts that would accommodate them. Nothing. I noticed they sold tons of Skull Candy headphones but when I asked about replacement buds I was told they exist but they don't carry them. The college kid working told me they were thinking about it. I guess I will go to eBay and buy them from China for .01 plus free shipping. I didn't even bother asking about tv information. There was one guy in that section and he was talking on the phone. Future Shop isn't bad if want to watch a movie with the staff for the afternoon, get 15 people to help buy a cell phone or watch 6 other people stand around the front check out cash. How do they stay in business?
The locally owned store was a piece of work as well. It didn't matter what product I was interested in the 1970's greasy Herb Tarlek look a like would tell me that I didn't want that one. You see I needed the one that 10X the price because that is what he has at home and it's great. Love the outdated commissioned salesman. After about 10 minutes of that I felt violated and went home and had a shower.
I think I am going to stick to my old way of shopping online and dealing with the consequences. I've made out allright so far doing it that way. I don't know why I thought I needed lazy college kids and greasy used car salesman. Already tonight I have been reading led tv reviews online and have figured out a couple of models I like.

You know when a company launches a dual core cell phone called the LG Optimus 2X that there is no time for those that move slow. fine people in London for walking too slow. It's a busy street and there is just no time for those that are going to slow others down. I love the look on peoples faces as they are handed their fines.
I love my gadgets and gadget accessories. That's why I was pretty excited to try out my new Podsta iPhone Softgrip Holder. It's a handy little soft grip holder that lets you use your iPhone, iTouch or Smart Phone as more of a media display device because it frees you from constantly having to hold it in your hands.
Don't think you need a holder for your iPhone 4? Think again. The Podsta allows you to set your iPhone or iTouch on the table or desk in front of you and watch you tube videos, view your play lists or run your apps without having to have it in your hands.
It's made of a soft material that may remind you of a stress ball. This means that your phone will slide in and out of it with ease, unlike those hard plastic holders. To put it into portrait mode you simply just have to turn it over on it's side and you have a media screen right in front of you. The picture below is how I use the Podsta at my work desk during the day to check email and play my music. I just have to reach over and touch the screen. I don't have to pick it up and hold it to my face.

They say a picture says a thousand words but this promo video for the Podsta speaks volumes. You can see it action and view the different colors available. One last bonus about the PODSTA, the price. The PODSTA is only £9.95 + £2.00 shipping within USA & Europe.
I purchased a Samsung HDTV a couple of years ago. I have been in love with it ever since. The picture is crisp and clear and the sound is actually pretty good for not having a sound system hooked up to it. I had a Sony before I bought this particular set and there is no comparison. The Samsung out performs it on pretty every level except the split screen function. You can only spilt a source and cable tv. I don't have cable tv so the split screen is useless to me. I used to like watching sports and playing COD at the same time. I miss that.
This is what my tv started doing a couple of weeks ago when I first turn it on. It's pretty annoying. Lasts a few minutes at most and then goes away. If I get enough energy I will give the tv a little shake and it fixes itself. It only happens when you first turn it on and goes in spurts.
Any ideas?
Steve Jobs has trouble connecting iPhone 4 during the demo Monday. From what I read too many geeks were clogging up the system with their own wireless devices.
