The Teamviewer Scam

First let me start by saying that from what I have read Teamviewer itself seems to be legit software. It is software that IT people might use to access a remote computer and fix it.

"With TeamViewer you can remotely control any computer as if you were sitting right in front of it – even through firewalls. All your partner has to do is start a small application, which does not even require installation or administrative rights."

Enter the Asian and Indian scammers. They get you to run the software by telling you they are going to help you get rid of virus' and then end up stealing all of your files hoping to get your credit card and banking information. It's a total scam. Nobody is calling you to help you fix your computer. How would they know it's broke? It's identity theft plain and simple.

Tonight the phone rings from an unknown name and number. As soon as I say hello I hear my voice echo through the phone. This means that they are probably using Skype or some other internet phone service that can't be traced. The lady on the other end had a very thick Asian accent and her English was horrible.

I was bored and thought I would walk through the process of her stealing my identity for the hell of it. I gave her my old person voice and told her I was very interested in fixing my computer. She must of thought she had a big one on the hook because she handed the phone to another Asian lady who spoke better English. I pretended to turn my computer on, go to the Teamview website and load it onto my computer.

I stopped the scammer and told her I was getting an error. She asked what kind of error so I told her. As soon as I load the software it tells me that you credit card stealing identity theft scumbags should shove it right up your ass. Right up there. I said a few other things that would make a sailor blush.

She hung up. I wasted about 20 minutes of her time while I watched the Yankees pound out three grand slams this afternoon. It was fun. Bottom line, don't give anybody access to your computer. They are trying to steal your identity. Don't just hand it to them.

    Hi I keep getting calls 3 or 4 times a day, so I decided to have a but of fun with them ;
    First they call me asking me to turn on my xp Microsoft computer , it has been reported to them that I have a virus.
    So I put the phone beside my sleeping dog( who is snoring ) and went and made a cup of tea.
    Picking the phone back up my Asian friend is still there , I then tell him I have turned on my IMac , at which point I ask him why Microsoft was phoning about my mac , the Indian man on the phone started to panic and then proceeded to tell me that he worked for both companies .
    Knowing he was just trying to scam me , I told I was having some problems with my computer after downloading some animal porn involving cows , horses and a couple of penguins ( he let out a big sympathetic sigh ) telling me this was the problem he was told about and he was hear to help.
    He then told me it was going to cost me £250 to fix.
    At this point I told him my battery had gone on my computer ,he then gave me the name of 3 web sites http://www.aammyy , http://www.support.me and http://www.teamviewer.com to put in to my other computer , which I said I did he then told me to enter a six digit cod which would let down load one of the programs and he would have remote access to my computer so that ho could get rid of the virus and he would then charge me for the privilege .
    This is a two tear scan:
    1, scare you in to making a payment there and then.
    2, have remote accses to your computer.
    If they keep phoning you and wasting your time , why not waste some of there time I managed to keep the con artist on the phone for 33 mins , they have NOT phoned back since……..

    Thank you so much for posting this article, I have just this minute slammed the phone down on a well speaking Indian who I was put through to by another maggot that was speaking gibberish. All of the above was said to me word by word, I am not too intelligent when it comes to things like this, but when I asked what the actual problem was he panicked and practically screamed “INSTALL!! INSTALL!!” when I said to ring me back after I have read the terms of agreement. Straight to Google and found this site. I snapped straight back to reality when he actually said “No No dont read it!!’ Bloody mongrels would probably get a few of us oldies, full well knowing our poor old brains may just be a wee bit fuddled. Sad really,I almost fell for it. Should have known from the Indians ringing me to say the Australian Government was handing out $5000 to us all, (for a quite hefty fee of course). Or the time I got a letter telling me my long lost fathers mothers sisters brothers aunt had left me $1 500 000. (said fee applicable also) Sighhhhhhhhhhh……..
