There was a bit of an update to the Zodiac story again recently. It appears that Deborah Perez believes the cops are taking her claim seriously. It's just her opinion but it's an update I guess. After reading the last story about her claims I don't know how anybody can take her seriously. 

"After trying for more than two years to get authorities to listen to her story that her stepfather was the taunting psycho who left five dead in the Bay Area 40 years ago, Deborah Perez has finally had a sit-down interview with the San Francisco Police Department's lead investigator on the case.

The meeting with homicide Inspector Kevin Jones and another officer was held Wednesday night in a secret location in San Jose and took three hours. By the end, Perez said, she was convinced that she is being taken seriously and that an official probe has begun into whether her stepfather, the late Guy Ward Hendrickson, was the Zodiac."

I am still fascinated with the Zodiac Killer and you can read my original blog post about Guy Ward Hendrickson and how his "one" daughter claims that he was the Zodiac and she wrote the letters. I think I will go with the majority on this one and call BS right out of the batters box until something concrete is shown to prove it. There wasn't much in terms of proof delivered yesterday at the press conference.

"A Southern California woman has claimed that her father was the infamous Zodiac Killer — and that as a 7-year-old she accompanied him on two of the murders. The Zodiac Killer’s identity has remained a mystery to investigators since the person terrorized the Bay Area in the late 1960s.
Deborah Perez held a news conference Wednesday in The City to announce that her father, Guy Ward Hendrickson, who died in 1983, was the wanted man. The glasses worn by slain San Francisco cab driver Paul Stine, which she said her father took from the crime scene, are still in her possession, Perez said. She hopes forensic testing will prove her claims are true."  – Source

Here is an interesting summary I found from another website:

Perez spoke at today's press conference. Here are just a few of her wild claims.

• During the shooting deaths, he told her the gun shots were firecrackers.

• She stamped the envelopes containing the cryptic letters sent out to local media.

• She embroidered the mask he wore while committing his notorious acts.

• During a routine police stop, he stuck his gun in the back of her pants. This happened just after the 4th of July killings.

• She also said he killed between 30 and 40 people.

• He lived in Orange County. Of course.

• He apologized on his deathbed.

• The murders seemed to be a "special activity" between her and her dad.

But here's the rub, Perez says she wrote some of the letters herself and that she saw a composite on America's Most Wanted in 2007 of her father as the Zodiac Killer, and began to remember it all. So, you know, she may be delusional in addition to being sanity-estranged. (However, according to attorney Kevin McLean, the man who lead this most recent investigation, "Everyone is going to say she is crazy, but we had psychologists examine Ms. Perez." Word is, though, that McLean isn't a beacon of mental clarity himself.)

For many years, people fingered Arthur Leigh Allen, a child molester from Vallejo who died in 1992, as the Zodiac Killer.
