HBO’s True Blood

I know nothing of the novels that HBO's new series True Blood is based on but I do know that I love a good vampire story. Since it Alan Ball of Six Feet Under running the show I didn't want to miss it. What can be more exciting, modern day vampires living amongst us in the deep south and all of the racey scenes that HBO can get away with. They lost me 15 minutes into it. I was dying for a little excitement to get things going. Everything we have seen about vamps shows them to have super human strength and powers. How did the main vamp end up getting tied down and almost killed by a couple of redneck drunks? I couldn't buy it.

There were a few funny scenes though that will draw me back to see the next episode. I almost with when it was over that the show had been about Anna Paquin's telekinetic powers. Maybe a spinoff down the road.

True Blood resembles Heroes at first glance (just rented the first episode from Blockbuster), though it still feels mostly original… for some reason this show makes me want to eat Cajun food and drink cheap beer
